Second Draft Sketch + Choosing Sections

Updated: Jul 24, 2020

*Sections Underlined:

  • Numbers underlined in yellow means the selected section has two separate parts with two different colour palettes.

  • Numbers underlined in green means the selected section has three separate parts with three different colour palettes.

*Sections Circled:

  • #48, given the preliminary sketches and the feedback, this eye is saved for the text ‘I Can’t Breath’ and the story around George Floyd. Remember this is your story, your perspective, your reflections on what is happening. If you are feeling called to do it, GO FOR IT!

  • #32, given the preliminary sketches, knowledge holders, and feedback, it is necessary to incorporate the pride flag in the painting. If this is part of YOUR story, choose this sections and draw your story. The special request is that the background must be the POC Rainbow Flag.

  • #40, given the preliminary sketches and feedback, it was important to add a mask to this story showing the overlapping times of People Power (fist) and the Pandemic (mask). When you add your story here, keep these things in mind.

  • #26, given the preliminary sketches and feedback, it is requested that this section is reserved for the SUN. If the sun speaks to your story, perhaps this is the section for you.

Choosing Your Sections!

To choose your section, first take note of the number of the section you want. And then, contact your Art Buddy to save it for you.

Important things to keep in mind when choosing your section:

  • Is it taken? (see if there is a name on it in the list below)

  • Does it have one colour palette, or two or even three colour palettes? Having more colour palette is more challenging to work with. So if you are up for the challenge, go for it!

  • Does the selection you want have a special request? Some sections have special requests. If the request speaks to you and it relates to YOUR story, Go for it!

  • Do you want to choose your colours? then maybe start by looking at the colours of the painting, and choosing a section within that area.

  • Does your story relate to the water? or protesters? or the mouth for voice? or the clouds? Think about sections as metaphors that will support your story.
